Hawai’i Sign Language

Hawaii School for the Deaf and the Blind aim to maintain preservation of the usage of Hawai’i Sign Language amongst the community however practices American Sign Language in the school district.

Based on World Language Ethnologue; Hawai’i Sign Language is known as HSL with language status under a nearly extinct category. Hawaii School for the Deaf and the Blind still aim to maintain preservation of the usage of Hawai’i Sign Language within the community by documenting it through films and maintain bond with the University of Hawai’i with their linguistics research team.
